Our History

Celebrating 77 Years of Community Spirit: The Harmony Patriarchs Club
Celebrating 77 years ago by a group of dedicated citizens, the Harmony Patriarchs Club has been the heart of community – The Patriarchs Club was incorporated October 26, 1948. It was founded by a group of dedicated citizens and since 1948 has been the heart of community. To fund this ambitious project, the Harmony Labor Day Free Fair was introduced in 1948. This annual tradition has not only successfully funded the gymnasium but has also grown. To fund this ambitious project, the Harmony Labor Day Free Fair was introduced the same year. This annual tradition not only funded the gymnasium but, since 1948, has grown into a cherished community event that continues to bring people together each year. The fair is an event that started as a one day fair in 1948 and is still going strong today. Over the years the fair has expanded from 1 day to 4 days and moved from the Harmony Elementary School parking lot to a dedicated fairground. Our fair remains the only free agricultural fair in the state of Maine.

The Harmony Free Fair: A Tradition of Generosity

The Harmony Free Fair stands out as a beacon of community spirit, remaining completely free of charge for admittance and parking since its inception. It's a time of reunion and joy, where many attendees enjoy the pleasure of reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. The fair features free musical entertainment, a variety of children’s activities, and a welcoming atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Harmony.

Year-Round Community Support:

Beyond the fair, the fairgrounds serve the community throughout the year in numerous ways:

Local Enrichment: Horse owners use the horse show ring for practice, while the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department utilizes the truck pull track for essential hose testing.

Resource Accessibility: During summer droughts, local residents benefit from access to water spigots available on the fairgrounds.

Join us as we reflect on 77 years of service, the Harmony Patriarchs Club is more committed than ever to enriching our community. We are always welcoming new volunteers to join us in making a difference. Be a part of our continued journey to enhance the lives of everyone in Harmony.

The Goal

Our Mission

The Patriarchs Club is a community betterment organization. The purpose of club is to promote civic projects for the betterment of the town of Harmony.
The mission of Harmony Free Fair is to provide a diverse range of educational and entertainment opportunities to promote agriculture, horticulture, and the domestic arts and to foster interest in agriculture in Maine through engaging exhibits, hands- on experiences, competitions, and family-friendly entertainment in an environment for families to build lasting memories. It is our mission to inspire and educate young people about the importance of agriculture and encourage future generations to appreciate its value. Through collaboration with local farmers, business and craftsmen, we endeavor to highlight the many aspects of agriculture and instill, in all fairgoers, a desire to learn more.
