Demo Derby Rules
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.Every driver must pay an entry fee, fill out an entry blank, sign an insurance waiver for themselves and their pit crew and submit
2. Entry fee is $50 per vehicle, including the driver and one (1) other person. $25 Ladies
3. Only Owners, Drivers, or Mechanics will be permitted in the pit area or on the track. Pit crew is limited to four (4) persons. Pit pass is $15 per person.
4. All rules and regulations must be observed. Track operators and promoters reserve the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
5. No cars are permitted on the track before the heat in which they are participating
6. No alcoholic beverages allowed anywhere. Drivers or their crews who are drinking will be disqualified
DRIVERS ENTRY
1. Drivers and pit crew must be at least 18 years of age.
2. All drivers must supply their own cars. Entries are limited to one (1) car per assigned driver.
3. ENTER EARLY! There is a thirty (30) car limit per derby.
4. Any driver not obeying the rules will be disqualified.
SAFETY REGULATIONS
1. Any stock hardtop automobile or station wagon is allowed. No trucks, Jeeps or Chrysler Imperials.
2. All glass, chrome trim, and anything that might become embedded in the track must be removed from the car before bringing it to the fairground. Car must be cleaned out, including the trunk. Doors must be cleaned out, there can’t be any broken glass.
3. Windshields are optional. An approved helmet, with a full face shield, is required if there is no windshield.
4. Gasoline tank – A maximum of three (3) gallons of gasoline will be allowed. Srock gas tank must be removed from car and a five (5) or six (6) tank installed. It must be secured in right hand back seat area only. Gas tanks must be safely tied down. Tanks in front of rear end must have an extra strap. Five (5) gallon boat tanks are recommended but not required.
5. Batteries must have a cover and be secured on the front passenger side floor or seat.
6. Cars will run straight water, not antifreeze.
7. Tires must be stock size with summer and/or no tread and filled only with air. May run tire flaps.
8. No reinforcements of any kind will be allowed. Trailer hitches must be removed.
9. No alterations, such as crushing of roof or cutting of frame allowed. Front bumpers may be welded.
10. Approved safety belts and approved helmets are required.
11. All doors must be chained or welded at least eight inches top or bottom on each end of door.
12. Driver’s door must be painted a contrasting color. If driver’s side door opens, driver will be disqualified from the heat
13. Trunk must be chained and completely empty. Tailgate must be welded.
14. Hood/Engine compartment must be chained with a minimum 12’x15″ hole in hood. Do not weld or bolt hood. Seat belt straps for hood and trunk are required.
15. Car numbers – Assigned car numbers must be on both sides of the car and on the roof
16. Fire extinguishers are required. They must be placed within reach of the driver (optional).
17. Additional safety regulations may be imposed depending on tract and conditions.
18. NO driver’s door hits 19. Proper Clothing – long sleeve shirts, pants and boots (Absolutely no t-shirts, shorts, crocs, etc.). Inappropriate clothing may result in disqualification.
